Save Southam Greenbelt
Dear Residents,
As our community faces increasing pressure from development, it's crucial to act now to safeguard Southam’s precious green spaces for future generations. Once planning permission is given to develop these spaces they are lost forever.
The Greenbelt land around Southam:
The Save Southam Greenbelt initiative, led by a group of local Southam residents, is dedicated to ensuring that our Greenbelt remains untouched by inappropriate development. To achieve this goal, we require specialised expertise in planning to navigate the complexities of local regulations and advocate effectively for our cause.
We are looking for donations to support this cause- all funds will be donated directly to Southam Parish Council and will contribute towards hiring a planning specialist who will work with the Parish Council, providing representation at planning hearings and appeals to protect our Greenbelt from encroachment.
We are looking to initially raise between £10,000 and £20,000 which will be used to fund a planning specialist to represent the Parish Council in objecting to the un-authorised development on Kayte Lane, and retrospective to planning permission for the change of use of Greenbelt land into a 2 hectare traveller site.
If we manage to raise enough funds to support this goal any surplus funds will be held by the Parish Council and used to fund future planning support to protect Southam Greenbelt.
By supporting Save Southam Greenbelt, you are investing in the preservation of our environment, the enhancement of our quality of life, and the conservation of our village's unique character.
Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a significant difference.
Together, we can ensure that Southam's Greenbelt remains a source of pride and beauty for generations to come.
Please donate today and join us in safeguarding our community's future.
Thank you for your support

The Greenbelt land around Southam:
- plays a crucial role in preserving the environment and providing vital habitats for our wildlife.
- acts as a natural carbon sink, absorbing carbon dioxide and mitigating the effects of climate change. The trees and vegetation help improve air quality by absorbing pollutants and producing oxygen. The open meadows and fields help prevent flooding.
- protects our public rights of way and scenic footpaths that allow us to easily access and enjoy the picturesque Cotswold area of outstanding national beauty.
- protects Southam's unique village character and prevents it being swallowed up by neighbouring Bishops Cleeve and Cheltenham.
