Save Sparrow: Fight Against FIP
Donation protected
Sparrow is a rescue from a local animal shelter who said she had a sensitive tummy and had recently recovered from a respiratory infection. They insisted that the respiratory infection was no longer bothering her, that she had a clean bill of health, and that she was ready to go home. After I brought her to her first physical as my pet, it became clear to my personal veterinarian that Sparrow had a much more serious health condition that was very much still present in her life: a mutated form of feline coronavirus called Feline Infectious Peritonitis, more commonly referred to as FIP. It is very often fatal. It causes a slew of symptoms including listlessness, weight loss, fluid pooling in the abdominal cavity, stomach issues, and in some cases neurological issues. Six months ago, this would have been a guaranteed death sentence. Today, there is an option, but it is costly. Stokes Pharmacy, the only pharmacy in the USA currently legally selling this medication, could provide a tablet called BOVA GS-441524 that will give Sparrow a fighting chance at life. Her vet bills to get this diagnosis, the medicine itself, and any future medical costs have been and will continue to be expensive. Your donation goes towards saving this young cat’s life! Funds will go towards paying for the medication as well as paying for vet visits. These vet visits have included bloodwork, an ultrasound, and biopsies. Further vet visits will be required to monitor her condition.
