Hello everyone, I am Britney Dominguez, an alumnus of a small catholic school in Los Angeles, CA.
I am reaching out to you and pleading for help. St. Agnes Parish was built between 1905-1907 and as of March 8th, 2024. Our children will no longer be enrolled for the following year. Essential people came into your parish to give us this last-minute news. Three months before the school year ends. We have faith in miracles, and our parents, along with myself…will fight until our school remains open. Generations after generations have supported us in every way possible. Our school is not just any other business; it’s an oasis of optimism, and just like that, it was closed down. Our children are suffering from this horrible decision, and it is out of our control. Our father and principal have done possibly everything to help keep our school open. However, not much can be done now. And all our parents who support us have concluded that this is unfair. Many catholic schools in Los Angeles have double the amount of students. Why doesn’t the Archdiocese Department of catholic schools help recruit new incoming students to our school? How could they hypothetically tell us to have hope in the new beginning of our children’s educational journey when they quickly lost hope in our school?
That said, I have started a GoFundMe for two of our school parents who will be running the LA Marathon (March 17, 2024) to help reach our school’s goal. If there is any way you could help us, any donation or a way for someone essential to hear us and help us. That would be incredible. The heart of St. Agnes needs your help.
