Save SugarPill!

Donation protected
These are indeed strange times, and we are asking for your help for the first time ever!  Sugarpill is a brick-and-mortar apothecary in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle and has been open for about 9 years.  The owner, Karyn Schwartz, shut its doors over a week before the mandate came from Governor Inslee regarding the COVID-19 outbreak in order to help stop the spread of the virus and keep people safe.  Her employees are now out of work.  While we have no online shop, we are currently working on other ways to ship essential goods out to customers, and they can follow on social media to find out more, but for now there is no other way to make any income for the foreseeable future.  We are asking for your donations now to make it through these next few months!

Sugarpill is not just a store, it is a place to gather, a place of community, a place of healing.  If you are even remotely familiar with Sugarpill, chances are you have come into the store, wandered around and maybe had a conversation with Karyn or one of the other workers about your life, health, friends, family, lovers.  You may or may not have left with herbal medicine, chocolate or other treats (Karyn probably gave you some free chocolate, ha!), but left with peace of mind, hope, or just a feeling of community - this is not just a feeling, but a tangible place that Karyn has created in this ever-changing city.  She has created this feeling that we are all in this together, and that none of our joy, suffering or grief is alone, that we are here to support each other on every level - that is what community means.  While the store has only been in place for 9 years, Karyn Schwartz is a community builder and has been a leader in the community for over 30 years.  She is a strong and humble woman, an herbalist, teacher, homeopath.  The shop has based its existence on person to person contact over the years and without that in place, we need your help to remain open!

My name is Angela and I am writing this as one of the workers who is no longer working from the shutdown.  We are all devastated as this place not only provided us herbalists with employment, but gave us the opportunity to serve the community in ways herbalists are not usually able to - it is a place of community & healing for us as well.  Please help see our beautiful shop stay open, so we can continue to provide the support, the ear, the herbal medicine and obviously, the chocolate.

With infinite gratitude! - The Sugarpill Team
