just cannot catch a break
Not only was Teddy born with megaesophagus, but this morning he tested positive for parvovirus.
For anyone who may not know, parvo is a virus that affects the gastrointestinal tract and not only is it extremely contagious but it is often fatal. This will cause puppies to have diarrhea (often bloody & mucus) , vomiting, lethargy, nausea, fever, dehydration, and many other subsequent issues.
For a puppy who already has an issue gaining weight & taking in nutrients do to mega-e, this leaves Teddy at a terrible disadvantage.
Thankfully the Parvo Treatment Center / Pearland Parvo Recovery Center has gotten him admitted and has started with immediate treatment using the Elanco Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody.
We are all crossing our fingers that being in the right hands he will beat this like the fighter we know he is.
While PTC offers lower prices to rescues for parvo treatment, these unexpected medical costs are huge blows to us. He will likely need extensive treatment with Iv's and Iv antis, antibiotics, NG feeding tubes and a few rounds of blood tests. We need to raise at least $700 to get Teddy the intensive care he deserves over the next few days.
