Save the Beaumont

The Situation:

The future of The Beaumont Studios is in jeopardy. Since 2019, we have faced severe financial challenges due to the soaring cost of real estate in Vancouver. The runaway gentrification and rapid development in our area have driven our rent and property tax obligations up by an overwhelming 20% in just 3 years. The pandemic and subsequent lockdowns exacerbated our financial constraints, leaving in its wake a crippling debt that puts our very existence in peril. Despite herculean efforts from our highly committed team and board, we simply cannot do this alone.

We urgently seek your support to keep our doors open. Our creative community depends on it, and time is of the essence.

The Beaumont:

For almost two decades, The Beaumont has been a source of inspiration and hope for Vancouver’s arts community. Since opening our doors in October of 2004, we have provided vital physical space and community support to thousands of creators. Our two buildings encompass 25,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space that has become a home to over 100 full-time professional artists. Established artists and young up-and-comers incubate craftsmanship, and connectivity, and share like-minded approaches to their careers in the arts. By cross-pollinating, co-working, and supporting each other, we have become more than a studio - it’s a collaborative mosaic of creators that have become a family.

We take an incredible amount of pride in the community that we have built together. As we embark on our 18th year, we find ourselves home to the rapidly expanding B-Side Radio - a bustling online radio station and streaming studio, The B1 Gallery, a well-respected visual art exhibition space, The Beaumont Boutique, an expertly curated thrift and up-cycle store, and our two legendary performance/event spaces in each building respectively.

A walk through our space reveals incredible diversity. Recording studios, filmmakers, and graphic designers coexist alongside jewellers, pottery studios, fashion designers, and textile artists. We are home to animators, glassblowers, composers, dance instructors, yoga teachers, coffee roasters, and so much more. It's more than just a building; we are a modern-day inclusive community center; a living and breathing entity that once experienced cannot be easily forgotten.

Long-Term Plan:

We have developed a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure the financial stability of The Beaumont. This begins with our GoFundMe campaign which will ensure that we can continue to develop long-term partnerships with local landlords and developers, engage with the city council and staff, and engage with our donors to create a sustainable solution.
GoFundMe Goal:

1. Stabilizing our financial situation by offsetting our immediate monthly shortfall
2. Creating a safety net while key partnerships and our long-term fundraising strategy is implemented
3. Ensure that we can continue to provide a thriving creative space and robust programming in our community

We are extremely grateful for your donations and for any help spreading our campaign far and wide.
