Calderstones/Woolton Green Wedge - Imminent Threat!
Funds URGENTLY needed for Legal Challenges
We, the newly formed Allerton Priory Environment Association (APEA) CIC (Community Interest Company), are seeking your support and more importantly, funds for Legal Challenges.
APEA CIC grew out of the Save Allerton Priory Campaign and was formed to support and fight for not only Allerton Priory but wider environmental and green space concerns that affect and threaten the local area.
The on-going Campaign to SAVE ALLERTON PRIORY - ‘Legal Challenge’
To summarise: Redrow applied for planning permission to build up to 160 executive homes in the heart of the Calderstones / Woolton Green Wedge; Liverpool City Council refused permission; Redrow appealed the decision, resulting in a costly Public Inquiry which Redrow won, resulting in the loss to the local community of a beautiful piece of land and opening of the floodgates to additional challenges and planning applications to build on our precious Green Wedge.
We have engaged a legal team which has prepared a case to challenge the appeal decision based on several identified errors of judgement. We are applying to the High Court for a Judicial Review. This is expensive and we need money to continue the fight to save the land and to protect our Green Wedge for future generations.
The new LIVERPOOL LOCAL PLAN - ‘Legal Representation’
The Local Plan is a lawful written Statement of Policies up to 2033 for development control purposes. One of these Policies relates to the Green Wedge which should be protected from development. This Local Plan is due to be decided in the coming months by a Government Inspector. In its submission, the council has weakened the definition of the Green Wedge Policy to enable further development. We intend to challenge the council for a more robust definition, using legal representation and if necessary, challenge at the High Court, to continue full protection of the Green Wedge Policy. The Policy exists to protect green open space and in his recent finding in relation to Calderstones Park, Justice Kerr echoed its protection in law. We must ensure it stays that way.
The Calderstones to Woolton Green Wedge includes: Calderstones Park, School Playing Field, Dowsefield, Allerton Manor Golf Course, Allerton Priory, Allerton Towers Park, Eric Hardy Nature Reserve, Allerton Hall & Clarke Gardens, Woolton Manor, (current planning application), Simpson Ground, land adjacent to the Simpson Ground, Springwood Playing Field, Camp Hill, Woolton Woods, Woolton Hall, and Woolton Golf Course. Employing Barristers is expensive. Please help us to fund this campaign, as every donation, no matter what amount, can all help towards seeking ‘natural justice’ in the interests of the genuine people of Liverpool.
