Support Your Century Theater

For over a century, The Century Theater has been more than just a place to catch a movie. It's been a gathering spot, a memory maker, and a symbol of community pride here in Fort Kent, Maine. From its humble origins as an old barn turned public hall, where movies began to grace its screens as early as 1917, to its official establishment briefly as The Gem and then as The Savoy Theatre in 1918, this cherished venue has remained a constant presence in Fort Kent. Though the original Savoy Theatre stood where our parking lot is today, the heart of the Savoy lives on in the present day Century Theater which stands just a few feet away.

In late 2019, the world changed. Like a scene from a suspenseful movie, the COVID-19 pandemic forced our doors to shutter temporarily for the safety of our patrons and staff, the theater stood silent for the first time in its long history.

In 2021 The Century Theater, began bringing back the magic of film on the big screen to Fort Kent once again, but it's been a rocky road. Years of wear and tear have taken their toll on our beloved theater, and it's time to give it the love and attention it needs and deserves.

With your support, we can not only reopen our doors but also transform The Century into more than just a movie theater. We envision a space where local talent shines, where laughter fills the air, and where memories are made that will last a lifetime.

Your donation will directly contribute to essential updates and repairs, ensuring that The Century remains a safe and welcoming space for all. From fixing aging infrastructure (a must in order to re-open) to restocking our concession stand with everyone's favorite treats, every dollar counts.

Moreover, your generosity will play a pivotal role in shaping the next chapter of The Century's storied history. Together, let's transform it from not just a movie hall, but into a true theater—a centerpiece for the performing arts in our town. It will become a venue for comedy shows, live music, theatrical performances, and so much more.

Thank you for being a part of our story. Thank you for believing in The Century Theater. And thank you for helping us bring the magic back to Fort Kent.

Thank you for your support!
