Save the Comer Barn

I believe the old stone barn most refer to as the Comer Barn should be preserved.
I believe it's iconic.
I believe the barn is positioned at an unparalleled gateway into Sumner County .
I believe it can - should - become a vibrant and thriving destination.
A group of friends and I were hoping to host a Barn Raising this October; a community event on the grounds of the barn to raise some funds and help our neighbors become better acquainted with this beautiful landmark. Gathering seems unlikely, so instead we'd like to quantify our community's support through this effort.
On Monday, August 17th, the Sumner County Commission will vote on whether to spend $250,000 to match a state grant of $250,000 to install a new roof. It will cost far more to renovate the barn and open it to the public.
We'd like to show the Commission that our community supports this effort.
OUR GOAL: Motivate 1,000 friends to donate $10 each in 10 days
...raising $10,000 towards a multi-million $$ project and providing clear evidence of our community's support.
Will you join us?!
UPDATE: This past Monday, the Sumner County Budget Committee voted unanimously to support this project; next Monday the 17th the full Commission will determine its fate.
Please note that should the vote on the 17th fail, I will promptly refund all donations (unless you request I hold them for future efforts; I won't give up fighting for the barn's preservation!!)
