REBUILD the Corner Farm

Donation protected

On Saturday, April 17th, 2021 we learned that our time has come to an end. We must vacate our home at Altgeld and Sawyer for the past 13 years by the end of April.

Yet, one door closes and another opens.

The Corner Farm is busy connecting with various community stakeholders to find a partnership that will allow us to continue to grow our garden and our outreach. The Corner Farm is looking for a new home.

You can follow our journey on our website: www.cornerfarm.org or on our facebook page: @altgeldsawyercornerfarm

We believe in gardening, community, friendship, volunteerism and the power of positivity.  Any money raised by this campaign will be used to continue our outreach and programming once we have secured our new home. We are looking at nearby parks, schools and available empty lots.

“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.” Audrey Hepburn.

The Altgeld Sawyer Corner Farm is a community garden and more: It is a classroom, an outdoor laboratory, an art gallery, and a highly valued community green space, open and free for the neighborhood to enjoy. Our goal is to cultivate a garden and nurture the community.

OUR PAST:
The Corner Farm began life in 2008 when a small group of Logan Square neighbors looked at a long-vacant  lot and envisioned a community space  where they could explore urban agriculture and artistic expression. In 2009, we partnered with Christopher House, a network of schools for low-income families, to provide outdoor learning and play space as well as fresh produce for the children and families of their Logan Square Campus.  Since then, the Corner Farm has grown into a vital community space that invites volunteers and brings neighbors  together.

If you are interested in making a major donation to help purchase the garden's current home, please email us about conservation tax credits that may be available. Large donations will be processed by NeighborSpace, a 501(c)(3) community land trust. In addition, if we are able to raise enough funds to purchase the garden, NeighborSpace will become the garden's permanent owner, ensuring its preservation for the long term.

Every dollar counts towards this effort, and we will be incredibly grateful for your support.

We now need your help to keep the garden going.

Thank you so much for supporting The Corner Farm over the years and during this time of transition. The community's response has brought us much hope and we appreciate your generosity as we rebuild!
