Save the DREAMS Schools - EMERGENCY Ramadan Relief

With a $40,000 monthly overhead budget required to run six schools, Thaakat Foundation has been in deficit for the last month.

Why do we need you? Thousands of families live in the strewn and burning mountains of waste, in Karachi, Pakistan's largest landfill. Here, 100 tons of waste is dumped daily. In the searing heat of these landfills, we see kids scavenging as soon as they learn to walk. Covered in blisters and boils from the fire of the burning garbage, this is all they know. Walking through piles of trash and waste, often alone, they seek their day's treasures. Working for enough in earnings so that they can eat. You can help change this.

Thaakat Foundation has worked with partner Idara Al Khair since 2012 to provide access to free education and healthcare for these communities. Within a 10 mile radius of this landfill, they've built six schools, the BEST SCHOOLS. Two of them are located right within the landfill to ensure distance is not a hindrance. Ripe with playgrounds, computer labs, libraries, sports fields and playgrounds. In the fog and darkness of the landfill--there is light!

We know that we can’t fix it all but with a focused approach on education and healthcare, with Thaakat, we can enable people to better lift themselves out of poverty. In close partnerships with local NGOs and governmental groups, we’ve been able to rebuild the infrastructure of wrecked and abandoned schools and healthcare facilities around the world.
