Founded in 1997, the STAR Eco Station is an environmental science museum, an exotic wildlife rescue center, and a haven for endangered and illegally-trafficked exotic animals confiscated by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. (Visit our website ) It houses over 200 exotic animals from birds and foxes, to reptiles and marine life.
It is now in grave danger. Unlike a typical museum it's not just a case of locking the doors. The Coronavirus outbreak has forced the Eco Station to shut down temporarily, and without the income from special events and tours, it is at high risk for shutting down permanently.
Also, it's a very different environment for the animals with no visitors coming in every day. They all have unique personalities and have forged special bonds with our staff so we have to make sure our staff can keep coming in and putting the health and welfare of our animals first.
We need to raise $100,000 for operational costs to cover the animals' food and supplies, the highly trained Eco Staff who manage the animal care around the clock, and the maintenance of habitats and environments for the next few months.
We would be so grateful if you could support us with a donation. No matter how big or small, it will help us ride out this storm until we are able to open our doors again and greet you with a smile.
