Save the ELk Store

The funds will go to the Elk General Store in Elk Texas. This a privately owed land mark with decades of history. At the moment the structure is in sever decade and is unsafe to be around. I have done my best to keep the store front presentable for the community . Many have reached out and would like the store saved or at least enough of it for photo ops. Once again please be respectful of the property. If you decide to visit amazing small town Texas history please take pics from the road and not on the actual property.

If this old place could talk it would tell you a many of life time of stories from robberies , beer drinking talk at the bar,  all the small town gossip and local talk of how the farming season is going  while sitting on the porch watching the day go by.  This store was the heart and soul of this community many decades ago where you could buy your groceries, farm and feed supply, fuel for your vehicle or even drive your tractor there to fill up  The most humbling of stories from the store was how you could go in and have bite to eat or drink a beer and have good conversation  with the owner and operator of the store Mr. Walter Dulock.  They Don't make them like that any more if only we could bring those amazing times back into todays world.
