Save the Finchley Memorial open space
Donation protected
Barnet Council on 17th December 2021 granted planning permission to build huge blocks on the green space by Finchley Memorial Hospital despite nearly 700 objections from local residents and 1600 petition signatures.
130 homes with parking spaces for less than half of them. Cars will clog up the surrounding streets and we will lose our green space forever.
We are now taking Barnet to court to fight this.
100% of this money will go towards funding this legal fight. If we win and get our legal costs back, we will donate this to protecting open space in Finchley and other community projects.
We had hoped Barnet would intervene and firstly question why we are building on open space, or demand the scale of the build to be reduced to protect more of the open space, but they did not.
So, Finchley Memorial Action Group raised money to seek initial legal advice to see if we had a claim to get this decision quashed. Our legal team advised we did have grounds for a claim. We filed for Judicial review on 28th January and we are now fundraising to pay the legal fees.
Please help save this space, otherwise when will this stop? Your green open space might be next.
