Save the Footscray Hotel – Melbourne's Last Old-School Pub

Hi, my name is Trent, and I’m reaching out for your support to save a place that means the world to me and countless others: The Footscray Hotel.

For nearly three years, I’ve run a free open-mic comedy night every Thursday at this iconic pub, giving performers a space to hone their craft and locals a place to share some laughs. But beyond comedy, the Footscray Hotel is so much more than a pub – it’s a pillar of our community.

This old-school gem has been a lifeline for struggling locals, offering affordable accommodation and even basic groceries for those in need. It’s a rare place where people can connect, share stories, and feel supported – all while enjoying some of the cheapest drinks in Melbourne.

Unfortunately, the pub is in dire need of repairs. The ceiling and roof are deteriorating, and the plumbing and toilets urgently need fixing. Without these essential renovations, the future of the Footscray Hotel – and everything it gives to the community – is uncertain.

We’re asking for your help to:

• Repair the roof and ceiling

• Fix the plumbing and toilets

If we exceed our target, we’d also love to upgrade the decades-old tables and chairs to give the pub a much-needed facelift.
