Save The Heart And Soul Cafe

Jim and Jodie Bowen are the beloved owners of the cafe in Dunrobin fittingly called The Heart and Soul Cafe. Proudly, they served their community and guests for over 21 years. It hasn't always been easy and they have many setbacks such as losing their gift shop twice. Once to a fire and once to the tornadoes just a few years ago. Still working closely with insurance and are so close to rebuilding their gift shop lost in the tornadoes. And while they still are struggling to recover from the tornadoes and the damage it caused they continue to give back and serve the community like they always have. They believe the heart and soul of a community is its people. And that is why it is so important for them to keep their doors open. To continue to have the privilege to serve their community. Never in their heart of hearts did they believe that there would come a day that they would be forced to close their doors for good. Then covid-19 hit. And it changed everything not only for them but for every business, big and small. The restaurant industry has been hit extraordinarily hard. They understand that they are not the only ones. They have maintained a positive outlook and faith that they will get through this just like they've gotten through all the other setbacks that they encountered over the past 21 years. Like all other restaurants they had to adapt and start to work within the parameters that were safe for their guests, for their staff and for their family and friends in the community. They are grateful for the support that they have received and are overwhelmed by it. Often when their customers ask how is everything going, they put a smile on and say everything is going to be okay. Sadly that's not the case. Food costs have gone through the roof. Utilities and mortgage and staff all need to be paid. But their income has been decreased dramatically due to limited capabilities for service because of Covid-19. The indoor seating has been cut by more than half and the patio seating season has come to its final days. Take out and the family platters are what's keeping the lights on barely,  however that's slowed significantly too. It seems like they've taken blow after blow and after the tornadoes and now covid-19 they are desperate. They want to continue to serve their community. They want to be able to survive this and be there with their doors open after recovery from covid-19. They have spent over 21 years of their lives working with Blood Sweat and Tears proudly serving their community only two live in fear of losing it in just a few months. Their hearts are broken but their spirits still have faith and hope that they can save their Heart and Soul Cafe. They are continuing to work hard and expand ways in which they can adapt even more. Finding new Outlets and ways to serve the community and keep their doors open for good. But they need your help. Donate only what you can even if it's a dollar, $5 or more. Anything will help at this point. All the money raised in this campaign will be given directly to Owner Judith Bowen to help keep her beloved Cafe in dunrobin open. Help save the Heart and Soul Cafe.
