Save The Historic Brockport Strand Theater

Donation protected
How do you ask for help while so many others need help right now?  Our family has owned the Brockport Strand Theater since 1994 and we have never asked for help like this.  We are in a very desperate state right now to keep our small business alive. So here it goes….

The Brockport Strand Theater has been entertaining generations in the community since 1916.  Ask any family in Brockport whether they have been to the Strand and they can probably tell you a fond memory of enjoying a movie on the big screen with their family & friends.  The Strand has seen a lot of changes throughout the years, but nothing could have prepared it for a pandemic like Covid-19.  My father William Yantz purchased the Strand Theater in 1994.  Our family then renovated the entire building to provide Brockport with the best movie viewing experience including new projectors, modern seats, updated carpeting and aisle lights.

We were forced to shut down, as mandated, by the State Of New York on March 16, 2020.  We anticipated a prolonged closure but fast forward 6 months and we are still closed.  We knew we could sustain being closed a few months, but not 6 and counting.  There is no end in sight.  All safety protocols are in place but New York State still will not permit us to operate. Meanwhile, our expenses have continued to add up.  We did receive some government assistance, but it was not nearly enough to keep us financially sound while being closed.  We desperately want and need to reopen but Governor Cuomo will not allow us to.  We need more government funding, just as many other small businesses do, but Congress has let us all down.

We could use all the help we can get right now to keep providing movie entertainment to the Brockport community and to provide our employees with much needed paychecks.  Any donation received will help offset fixed operating expenses and current debt obligations.

The Brockport Strand has entertained generations in the Brockport community and with your help we can continue to bring families together at The Strand.  It is very humbling for our family to ask your family for help, but we are running out of options. If you are not in the situation to donate, we completely understand.  Another way that you can help is by notifying our local representatives in congress to provide more funding to small businesses through our #saveyourcinema campaign.  Please go to www.saveyourcinema.com to take action and let congress know that our beloved local movie theaters need to be saved.  Please do not abandon us.  #SmallBusinessRelief

Thank you so much for any amount of money that you are willing to donate and for sharing our Go Fund Me campaign with your friends and family.  Our family truly appreciates it.  Hopefully we will reopen soon but with your much needed help we can ensure that the Strand will survive for future generations to enjoy.

Thank You,

The Yantz Family
