Save The Latino Art Museum!
During the Pandemic the Art community was heavily impacted by restrictions and little to no government assistance for organizations. The Latino Art Museum, a Downtown Pomona Art Colony fixture and center point of the community for 19+ years was restricted from opening for over 12 months, depleting much of its financial resources through the process. In December 2020 while in the midst of such a difficult time another tragedy struck as founder/director, Graciela H. Nardi suddenly passed away from cancer, leaving much of the community mourning her loss as many would refer to her as the Madrina (The Godmother) of the Pomona Arts Colony.
Her surviving son, Matias Nardi (stepping in as the new acting director), alongside LAM board members, Javed Management and the support of Pomona City Council will continue her efforts moving forward.
With plans to potentially reopen in May/June, financial goals must be met in order to accomplish all needed requirements and expenses. Donated funds will not only help the continuation of the legacy but also contribute to new developments, renovations and technology to evolve for the current times and restrictions.
