SAVE The Libby Museum: IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION

IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION to all donors

As you may know, the Friends of the Libby Museum, Inc. solicited donations for the restoration and a modest addition to the Libby Museum in partnership with the Town of Wolfeboro.

Plans were drafted and the Friends launched a capital campaign which resulted in over $2.2M in donations and pledges. You and many others who love the Museum donated generously to this project for which we thank you.

The Board of Selectmen of the Town of Wolfeboro, who also serve as the Trustees of the Libby Trust, agreed to place an article on the 2023 town warrant to raise its share of the project but only if the money was raised through bonding. A bond vote requires a 60% majority of votes.

While 57% of the citizens of Wolfeboro voted in March 2023 in favor of the project, it was less than the required 60%. Unfortunately bonding the project failed and the Town of Wolfeboro is unable to provide its share of the cost of the restoration of the Museum.

Because of this lack of Town funding, the restoration and expansion project cannot go forward. You have a choice regarding your donation.

(a) you can redirect the donation to the Friends of the Libby Museum to be used in furthering its mission, or

(b) you can request it be added to the Friend’s Endowment fund, or

(c) you can request the donation be returned to you.

Whatever your decision, please know the Friends of the Libby Museum are grateful for

your support. We wish to provide a form to each of you.
