Save The Lido Theatre Est.1930

Donation protected
The Lido Theatre Est. 1930 is the longest running atmospheric theatre in the world located in The Pas, Manitoba, Canada.

It is not a restored building but rather a preserved building with most of the property being original.

Providing a safe, family friendly, alcohol and drug free environment for decades.

The Lido is a safe zone where any person is welcome no matter their race, gender, age, political beliefs or sexual identity.

Please help us save it from the bank and prevent others from gutting the place and turning it into condos.

Follow the Lido Theatre’s Facebook page and NorCan Arts & Heritage Inc.’s page to stay up to date.

Thank you to our supporters.

What Happens if we don’t can’t save it? We will use all funds raised for arts, culture and heritage in the north. We will be very up front and transparent with where every dollar is being spent. In the event that a donor no longer wishes to support we can refund their donation less the GoFundMe fees.

If someone does bid at the Bank auction what happens then? As far as we understand they’d take possession in 30 days. However they’re only taking legal possession of the property not physical possession. The properties currently leased to residential tenant(s) and those leases survive the auction and the new owner is obligated to follow those leases.

What happens if the new owner evicts the tenants and breaks the leases under the disguise of using it for person use? They can do that by giving 5 months notice to the tenant(s). the tenants have the exclusive right to conduct business on their residential property and as such they will allow us to operate on their behalf as long as they can. Further more we believe the tenants can challenge that eviction by making a filing with Manitoba Landlord Tenancies and they intend to do so. If Manitoba Landlord Tenancy Branch upholds the eviction the Tenant’s do have the right to appeal that ruling and do intend to do so.

What happens if the new landlord evicts the tenants under the disguise of “major renovations”? Very similar or above.

The Tenant(s) prepaid their leases and those funds are to be used to provide the tenant(s) with their property, furnishings, and services for the duration of the lease. Should the new landlord evict said tenant(s) then they may be obligated to refund them the considerable amount of lines that they had paid.

We had already sold all of the businesses equipment and furnishings prior to foreclosure. Everything that was possible to sell we sold. Most of which was bought by NorCan Arts & Heritage Inc. Any new owner will be required to give NorCan a considerable amount of time to remove some it’s property, including all the seats, curtains etc.

NorCan Arts & Heritage has also secure all of the collectibles and will be preserving them and in some cases selling them in order to develop or read ire the properties including the 100000 movie posters.

As soon as it is purchased by another person our legal team will be going full speed towards designating the place as a Heritage site so that they can not change it.
