Save the Livesey Memorial Hall: legal fighting fund
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Julia, and I'm fundraising to save The Livesey Memorial Hall, the Asset of Community Value at the heart of Bell Green, Lewisham. It's a grade II listed community hall, opened in 1911 as the Sydenham gasworks' sports and social club, and is surrounded by sports grounds.
Lewisham Council failed to notify us that it was being put up for sale, so we missed our chance to bid. Kier sold it to property developers Apex Capital Partners, who want to build flats on the sports grounds.
We need funds to challenge Lewisham on its failure to follow its own Constitution, and failure to disclose documents relating to their scrutiny of the sale. We then need to campaign for urgent works notices to halt the deterioration of the three listed structures - Hall, front wall, and the war memorial, which has already been placed on Historic England’s Heritage at Risk register.
There's no time to waste; please help the Bell Green Forum protect the Livesey and its sports grounds for generations to come.
