Save the Lucas Schoolhouse
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Andi, and I am asking for your help to save the Lucas Schoolhouse.
You've seen the steeple from the highway, and walked past us in Soulard, and wondered "What's in there?"
This sanctuary was to be repurposed into a collection of working artist studios for a wide variety of disciplines, most notably stone carving, bronze work, and woodworking. Currently, it was housing works-in-progress, tools, and equipment. These projects were completed by the business owner, Abraham Mohler, his students, and other resident artists. These finished works were displayed in the neighboring art gallery and showcased during events. You can also find many of the sculptures gracing businesses, cemeteries, churches, and more in the greater St Louis area.
On June 6, a fire engulfed the church on the corner of Gravois and Allen Ave.
Everything was lost.
The event space and art gallery next door was not damaged and will be able to continue limited operations, however with the loss and replacement costs of the studio, not for long. We are asking for your help to help save the iconic St Louis building.
I have been a part of the Lucas Schoolhouse for a few years now, and this place holds a special place in my heart as it does for many in our community. The Mohler Family is one of the kindest and most hardworking bunches I have met, and the Schoolhouse Gallery and studio are their sole source of income.
The Soulard skyline has changed. But with your help not permanently. Please consider supporting our rebuilding financially and keep us in your prayers.
