Save the Mothership - Skagit 31 Saratogan
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Kelly and I'm raising money for my friend Tim, so he can get the 1957 Skagit 31 back on the water!
Tim spent a large part of his life bringing the 1957 Skagit back to it's former glory. This boat is not only art on the water, it brings smiles to everyone who lays eyes on her. Anyone that has seen this boat in person, knows how much love and time has gone into her over the years.
Across the decades Tim has empowered others to embark on their own boat restorations. He's willfully assisted many with his knowledge and experience of not only how to repair boats, but how best to set them up for successful boating and waterway navigation for years to come.
Tim's entire life has revolved around boating. From early childhood and throughout his entire life, Tim has been there for other people who needed help on the water. He spent years operating his own tow/rescue boat company all around the Puget Sound, from Olympia to the San Juan Islands. If you needed a tow sometime in the last four decades, there's a good chance he was your guy, and always met you with a smile!
Tim recently has aquired some medical troubles. At the same time, the Skagit 31 aquired it's own "medical" issues by way of a bad after-cooler on the port engine.
The cost for the part alone is $2000. Tim is on a fixed income. I'm doing what I can (with limited time) to help at the moment.
The goal is to not only cover the cost of the part, but to assist with labor cost and moorage cost while he's focusing on a full recovery.
Any assistance is extremely appreciated.
If the donation goal is achieved and Captain Tim is healthy, I will put together a casual "outing for the day" aboard the Mighty Skagit 31 to the top donor once the vessel is fully seaworthy again.
The goal would be to have it back together by the Spring of 2023.
The 1957 Skagit 31 (1 of only 3) was built in LaConner Washington. Anyone currently boating in a large fiberglass boat, has this boat to thank. It was the largest fiberglass boat in it's day and set many standards for modern-day boating.
