Anne Sorrenti is the owner and head chef of The Oakwood Hardware Food and Drink. The OH opened its doors in Oakwood Village, a diverse working class neighbourhood in the west end of Toronto in 2016.
Despite the success the restaurant has seen, and the massive support from people all over the city, Anne has faced a series of challenges over the past couple of years that is leading to the restaurant’s impending closure.
Just less than one year after Anne opened, a fire kept the restaurant closed for 18 months. The restaurant then reopened for 9 months, then along came the pandemic. They then faced a series of openings and closures due to COVID-19. The Oakwood Hardware then fully reopened in Spring of 2022.
Unfortunately since then, physical injuries have greatly affected Anne's health and well-being, making it even more difficult for her to get the restaurant back on its feet after the tumult of the fire and the pandemic.
It has always been Anne’s passion to give back to her community by creating a space for all people to come together to dine and enjoy each other’s company.
The Oakwood Hardware is more than just a restaurant, it’s an anchor business and a place for the community to meet.
Anne created this restaurant to give something back to her community. Now we are asking you to give back to her.
We have a goal of fundraising $20,000 to help pay off the outstanding expenses born by the fire and the pandemic and Anne’s physical injuries. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated.
Help us save the Oakwood Hardware. Spread this message far and wide, and share her story. Thankyou for giving us hope. We can’t do it without you.
