Save the Ransom County Museum
9/11/20 Update:
You guys are amazing!! Thank you so much for your support, keep liking, sharing, donating and maybe we will reach our goal of $5,000! We hope to see you all at our fundraiser event tomorrow, September 12th, from 5-7 p.m. at the museum grounds!
The historical T.J. Walker building was built more than 100 years ago in the valley of beautiful Fort Ransom, ND.
According to the Fort Ransom Community History book, this local museum was first started in 1972 when Lisbon offered artifacts to the Fort Ransom museum and volunteers moved them to their current location, combining forces and creating the Ransom County Museum. (Though the Fort Ransom Historical Society goes back farther than that).
This building contains the history of our area, our county, our families. But the building has been running on minimal funds for far too long. The foundation walls have been caving in and the building will not stand forever. Regular donors are getting farther and fewer in between, if we have any at all.
A bid to completely redo the entire foundation came in at around $100,000. A bid to build a new building with the same square footage was more than $250,000.
The task before us seems too monumental to be done, but we have to start somewhere. And we know how generous people can be when they pull together for a common cause.
Now is the time to begin fundraising before we lose our museum forever. Please consider donating some funding to this museum so that we may move forward with preserving our history for EVERYONE!
