Save The Royal Hotel at Hayfield

The lovely village of Hayfield (famous for the Kinder Trespass of 1932) lies in the valley of the River Sett, on the very edge of the beautiful Peak District National Park. The Royal Hotel Hayfield, (an 18th Century Grade 2 listed building) and once a thriving hub of the village, is now closed and up for sale. We want to restore it as the vibrant, warm and friendly place it has been in the past. Since it closed its doors eighteen months ago, the pub stands empty, locked and neglected.

The Save The Royal group has registered an expression of interest with the Local Authority (following a successful Asset of Community Value registration) and we are aiming to buy it and run it as a community pub/hotel. Our recent survey of local opinions and suggestions revealed strong support for this initiative. Additionally, there were numerous ideas for turning it into a social hub that would benefit both residents and visitors to the area.

We are a small project group working hard to set the wheels in motion to be in a position to make a bid for the freehold by the late Autumn. We are exploring all funding options including, applying for grants, crowd funding, community shares and private investor finance to raise the money needed for purchase and renovation works.
