Hello friends and allies,

For nearly 20 years, the Self Advocacy Federation has been a powerful, disability-led human rights group in Edmonton, Alberta. We have worked to break down barriers to belonging including access, transportation, poverty and ableism because everyone deserves good services and a good life.

We believe in “Nothing About Us Without Us”—our voices must be heard when decisions are made about our lives.

But on January 7th, we were blindsided. After 20 years of partnership, the Government of Alberta terminated our funding 12 months early, cutting us off from the resources we relied on to continue our work. This was a devastating blow, but we refuse to give up.

Now, we need your help.

We are determined to become self-sustaining—but we need time and funding to make that happen. We have the skills, the experience, and the drive to build a social enterprise that will support our advocacy long-term. But right now, we need a financial bridge to keep our work going.

For nearly two decades, the Self Advocacy Federation has been a safe and inclusive space for people with disabilities to meet, support one another, and work towards a more inclusive world.
