Watch the Hollywood Theater ticket booth be loaded on a flatbed and sent to a warehouse for safekeeping.
What was the first movie you saw at California, PA’s Hollywood Theater? How about the last? Were your favorite seats on the floor, or in the stadium balcony? Did your high school or college graduation ceremony take place there?
The theater—a fine example of 1930s art deco design—was built in 1938 and torn down in 2012. Although many fond memories remain, the only remaining physical remnant of this majestic theater is its ticket booth.
California Area re:Generations (CARE) is now entrusted with its preservation and restoration.
A very generous benefactor, Brianne Mitchell, stepped up to help us Save the Ticket Booth!. With her support it was transported by G&G Landscaping to her warehouse in Brownsville, PA and is now safely inside, out of the elements. From there, we’ll have it restored.
California area residents (current and former) and all interested parties are invited to help us Save the Ticket Booth! by supporting this campaign. The funds that are raised will be used to restore the booth, transport it to a permanent location, and create signage that will tell its story.
Your donations are tax-deductible. If you prefer to donate by check, please make it payable to CARE and send to:
