Save the Wandering Hen

"Wow people."
You know the type. You meet them and instantly feel connected, as if you've known them for ages. We're not always lucky enough to meet "wow people," but once we do, we know our lives will be forever changed for the better.
Amanda and Bill Banta are two such WOW people in my life. If they sound familiar, you probably know them as the owners of Rowlands PA Produce and The Wandering Hen. And if you are fortunate enough to call NEPA home, you've likely met this charming couple at a local farmers market, charity fundraiser, their farm-to-table restaurant, or local food truck events. They are a passionate team, and are deeply committed to raising the standard for local agriculture and farming. In 2017 the couple founded the NEPA Chefs for Sustainability- an intricate network of local chefs and resturanteurs committed to raising the bar in local agriculture and sustainabilty. In the past 2 years alone, they have helped raise over $40K to keep 2 local farms from foreclosure. That is the Banta way - Community First.
In November of 2018, they decided to combine their love of sustainable farming and local cuisine in order to create The Wandering Hen Cafe, a completely locally-driven farm-to-table restaurant and marketplace in the heart of downtown Scranton. Their mission is simple, yet unique: to offer high-quality, hand-crafted meals, food products and merchandise created entirely by local farms, purveyors, and artisans. Definitely a noble mission, but easier said than done in today's fast paced society and dollar menu deals.
If you have had the pleasure to dine at the Wandering Hen, you know the results of their hard work have been nothing short of spectacular. The Bantas and their energetic and passionate staff have worked tirelessly to fulfill the Hen's mission. Even so, a restaurant with such a unique vision and commitment to local flavor takes time to develop a strong customer base. Honestly, right now the Bantas and The Wandering Hen desperately need our community's support. It is our turn to show them how much we value them and all that they've poured into this community. It is our turn to WOW them.
I am asking for your help in keeping the mission of the Wandering Hen Cafe alive. I realize you might be thinking, "Why should I donate to keep a business alive?" It's a fair question. But the fact of the matter is, supporting the Wandering Hen is not just keeping one business alive, it is helping them sustain the over 50 local farms and artisans they support as well! No amount is too small to help make a big difference.
If you cannot donate at this time please SHARE this post so others may be able to help this campaign!
From the bottom of my heart I thank you for your time and consideration. Don't forget to Shop Small and Eat Local. ❤️
