Save the World Famous Lion's Lair

The Lion’s Lair is Denver’s oldest consistently operating independent music venue, beginning as the Playboy Club in the 1930s, then the Aladdin Lounge from 1936 to '67, at which point John Lyons opened the now world famous Lions Lair.
The bar has been a pillar of music ever since the early 90's and hosts local and touring bands 6 nights a week covering a large range of genres. Lion's Lair holds a weekly open mic night where anyone wanting to play music is welcome. Lion's Lair also hosts a weekly Open Mic Comedy night where people gather to watch people take a chance at making the room laugh.
The Lair has a community that is supportive. LL's community consists of people that live for this bar. People that need the bar for support, friendship, expression of music or art and sometimes you just need a place dark and calm to grab a drink. It's easy to be a part of the Lair community, all you have to do is stop by. We drink together and enjoy our daily conversations with the people that come to say hi, while respecting the people that want to drink their drinks alone. There are people we see daily that worry us when they are late. There are others that come to visit, because every one has a story about, "that one time at Lion's Lair!"
We have seen other great venues close during COVID 19 and we are worried for Denver. Please support the businesses still going. During COVID 19 we have had to close our doors for over 8 months out of this year. We are raising $25,000 to catch up on expenses that have accumulated during the government shutdowns of 2020.
We know that every one is being affected by the virus, but if you are in a position to help us stay afloat. Lion's Lair is a historic Denver staple that must stay alive through this pandemic and we need your help!
In its current iteration the Lair has been providing live music to the city of Denver since the early ‘90s, hosting past and future legends like Mike Watt (Minutemen, Secondmen, fireHose), John Doe (X), Jonathan Richman (Modern Lovers), Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), Flipper, The Blasters, The Black Keys, Andrew Bird, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Apples In Stereo, 16 Horse Power, Dexter Gordon, Gil Scott Heron, G Love, Nathaniel Rateliff, The Decemberists and countless others.
Thank you for your support, LONG LIVE THE LAIR!
