Save Topanga Pet Resort

Fifteen years ago, TPR opened to the public after many successful years dedicated to the care, board, and training of guide dogs.  For almost two decades, we've provided that same quality care for your beloved pet and we want more than anything to continue to do so. 

But the TPR that you've  grown to know and love is at risk of disappearing  forever due to a change in ownership of the property....

 

Owners Pat and Keith are selling their rustic retreat for dogs, and moving up north to be closer to their 5 grandchildren. The 6-acre Topanga property including the business is currently on the market and at risk of being lost forever. We are both joyous that Pat & Keith will finally get to retire and be with their family, and brokenhearted at the thought that the place we call our second home may soon be no more. 

The perfect scenerio would be that the buyer would realize how extraordinarily magical TPR is,  and nothing will change.

The reality of the situation is that the person that buys the property can and will do whatever they want with the land and that includes opening a different business, building something else, and even tearing down the building.

All this week we've been giving tours to potential buyers (which has been torturous), and their plans for the future of TPR range from converting the kennel into a mini horse stable to demolition of the building completely.

 

 

 

 

Our hearts are invested in TPR--We’ve transformed the behavior of many dogs who otherwise may not be here today.  We've been on life's journeys together--You have trusted us to help guide you through the years about what type of dog to adopt, advice and training for your puppies, caring for them while you go on vacation, and we are by your side when it's time for them to pass on. 

We shed tears of joy and sadness, and laugh till we can't breathe....together.

Your dogs’ wagging tails and sloppy kisses are what fills our hearts and lives. Our personal relationships with each and every one you, and our love for your dogs is what makes us whole.

Our long-time friendships with each other (the staff) have allowed us to to see each other through all different growth spurts in our lives-- marriages, divorces, pregnancies, childbirths and raising children, new loves, lost loves, losing loved ones, venturing out into the world to spread our wings and returning to TPR after realizing there is no place like it.

This is home and we don’t want to lose it. We want to have many more years of loving your dogs and providing a safe space where they can come to play and just be dogs.

 

 

But we are at risk of losing all that we have built if we let someone else buy the Resort.

Because of this, Jennifer and myself have decided to buy Topanga Pet Resort. You may think this is an unrealistic goal, but I know we can do it. If we have your support we may actually have a chance of keeping TPR open and run by people who know, love, and care for your dogs as if they were our own.

 

We've set a goal of $500,000 but this is just a beginning – If we all give just a little, we can make this happen.
