We have Survived; Now we need to Thrive!

"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove. But the world may be different, because I was important in the life of a child." —Forest Witcraft

Westside School of Ballet is Los Angeles’ most successful ballet academy. Founded by Yvonne Mounsey and Rosemary Valaire in 1967, the school has been a touchstone for countless children and adult dancers for over 54 years. Programs such as Westside Ballet's yearly Nutcracker, Spring Performances, Summer Sessions & Intensives, the online and outdoor classes, and many other valuable offerings would not be possible without the backing of Westside’s generous supporters.

In the Spring of 2020 on the heels of the first shutdown, Westside Ballet began an ambitious campaign to raise $150,000. Donations were needed to help keep the ballet school and the dance studios open as the pandemic took hold of the country. Operating with only a skeleton staff, the funds helped secure the latest technology in order to provide virtual instruction and maintain the connection between instructor and pupil.  Thanks to the efforts of the “1500 Angels'' Crisis Relief Campaign, almost $215,000 has been raised to date. However, the initial goal was set in anticipation of a three-month shutdown.

When the pandemic entered its second, devastating year, the 2021 Crisis Relief challenge was reset to $350,000. The Board of Directors raised the goal to ensure: the school will be able to operate; the nonprofit performance company can produce future live performances on the stage; and Westside Ballet may surpass its 54th year and persevere beyond these unpredictable times.

We are humbly asking for your continued contribution of anything from $10-100 a month, until we are operating at full capacity again. Of course a one time donation  is also much appreciated.

Please give now and help preserve our legacy of excellence in Santa Monica!
