My parents, Dr. Filippo and Alice Masciarelli, opened a non-profit health clinic ( Denton Community Health Clinic) for homeless, uninsured, and low income patients in Denton, TX in 2011. They are facing closure on May 5th due to lack of funding. The clinic has helped 2,000 patients who would have otherwise no access to healthcare and could have died due to their health issues.

Lowery was in tears Friday afternoon when she shared how Filippo Masciarelli changed her life six months ago. Lowery was joined by about a dozen fellow patients of the Denton Community Health Clinic who shared testimonials in front of potential investors for the clinic.
“I was going to end up homeless. Suicide would have been a better option,” Lowery said. “I almost came up with a plan before dying in the streets. I thought, ‘Is dying the answer? I came here, and that day, they put medicine in my hands that I could not afford.”
However, now they can't keep it afloat from all the costs of helping so many people and not having enough community support. It is unfortunate, but most of the community, is simply not caring enough to help the homeless, uninsured, and low income families. My parents have enormous hearts and a beautiful mission to help those in need. Now they will see this mission crumble into nothing. If they could get enough funding by May 5th, they can keep the clinic open and save lives.
