Do you see that picture above? That was me a few months ago when I said "I do" to my amazing new husband. The main picture, with the tubes in my arms, is me now.
Hello, my name is Faustina Addai. I am 34 years old and a newly wed. I run a low cost kitchen accessories shop in Tanoso Kumasi in the Ashanti region of Ghana. I engage in most voluntary work with passion and I am an account active member of the church choir. My love for children has driven me to be a part of the children's ministry at Praise Baptist Church Kumasi, where I fellowship.
My life was just unfolding in the right direction, until 5th April 2016 when my family and I received an earth shattering blow: my CT scan revealed a diagnoses of Bilateral Renal Tumour( Kidney Cancer). This nightmare has been unbearable. I have been hospitalised since this day, and I have been advised by my consultant that I need to undergo an urgent surgery within the next 20 days if I should have any chance of surviving
this. I have currently exploited every avenue possible and spent every penny that I had saved to
see me survive each day. My family and friends have been really supportive and contributed,
in diverse ways, towards the funding of my healthcare bills; but there is only so much they can do.
I have with the help of the consultant and a friend found a hospital in India who are willing to carry out my operation and has shown very promising results as the facilities in my home country are very limited. My friend has selflessly offered to be a kidney donor if she's a
match. I am currently at crossroads as my surgery is going to cost me a total of $57000. This includes biopsy of the whole body, Laparoscopic Nephrectomy (each side) with an interval of 10 days between each surgery. Post surgery, I will be put on dialysis and I will require a Kidney Transplant. The reports are suggestive of metastatic disease, I do need to have chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
My chances of recovery are diminishing everyday that I do not get the financial help needed towards my treatment. I have deteriorated since I have been in the hospital. The worry and
burden of funding also playing its part.
I am therefore appealing to all out there for a donation, however small or large, to help with
funding to cover my operation, treatment and its associated costs. It isn't how much you give but how much love you put into giving.
Words cannot simply express how grateful I am for your kindness, care and support at this difficult time. I am looking at a very uncertain future with such a desperately poor prognosis.
I am grateful to you for taking time out of your busy schedules to visit my page. I am hoping to look to the future with much optimism. Thank you so much, your donation gives me hope, God bless you. And lastly, please remember me in your prayers.
