SAVE GRANGEWOOD INDEPENDENT SCHOOL
Donation protected
Grangewood Independent School is being forced to close. (Charity No: 803492).
In a borough called Newham
Close to the Olympic Park.
Sits Grangewood Independent School
A shining light in the dark.
The children are amazing
They are funny and bright.
Just 60 attend
But they are a true delight.
We follow a Christian education
And believe in God’s Grace;
We are taught to love everyone
In the entire human race.
But if it was left to some people
We would be no more.
The director who is meant to guide us
Is now showing us the door.
They tried to force us out
With only two days’ notice.
They sold the building behind our back
And Mr Lester paid himself a bonus.
They say the school’s a poor investment
And there is no money to be made.
I say how can you compare our value
As though we are stocks to trade?
So could you please spare a donation
For we the blessed children.
To continue our education
In this beautiful safe-haven?
This place is an oasis
Filled with love, hope and expectation.
That’s why our faces are always beaming
With God’s Love, Grace and Devotion.

Dear readers, sponsors & supporters,
What makes Grangewood Independent School so special?
Grangewood Independent School was founded in September 1979 by Dr. Clive Vellacott, a Christian doctor and his wife, Susan, who were members of East Ham Baptist Church. The school was nevertheless open to children from all backgrounds and over the years we've had children from other faiths and no faith.
In order to protect the future of the school, the founders formed Grangewood Educational Association, a company limited by guarantee and obtained charitable status in June 1990.
On the 26th March 2018, the Parents, Teachers and Staff were informed that the school will be closed permanently from the 28th March 2018, giving them just 48 hrs (2 days!) notice.
- Teachers, Staff, Parents and Pupils are still in shock
- We feel abandoned and betrayed by the sole director of the charity who is now nowhere to be found
- He has blocked access to the school/charity’s bank account
- The director has made false claims that the school is in financial crisis, and that the closure is due to lack of funds. This is untrue and a blatant lie
We now need your urgent support!
We need to get an injunction to freeze access to the school’s bank account by the director, and an Order to return all monies transferred from the account since 28 February 2018.
Please help and support us in our fight to save our school so that we can continue to provide an education, safeguard our children and keep Grangewood open.
The funds raised from your generous donations will be used for:
1. Meeting legal costs that we will incur as a result of the legal action brought against us by the director who is using the charity’s money recklessly.
2. Covering temporary school administration and operating costs (we have no access to the schools fund)
3. Supporting the Grangewood Bursary Fund that is used to enable children from disadvantaged backgrounds to gain access to the school.
We believe in transparency and will endeavour to provide full accurate itemised information to everyone who makes a donation.
Thank you in advance for your kind act of generosity. Please share our story with your network.
With God’s grace & mercy
