Save Lake Accotink

Lake Accotink is a valuable recreational and environmental resource. The future of Lake Accotink is in question. Fairfax County Park Authority has indicated a desire to knock down Accotink Creek Dam, which traps roughly 50% of pollutants from upstream. The loss of Lake Accotink will be a sore loss to the citizens of Fairfax County and Northern Virginia and will cause the ecological destruction of lower Accotink Creek and further harm to the health of the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay. Save Lake Accotink is dedicated to the preservation of Accotink Creek Dam and Lake Accotink, the implementation of a permanent solution to the buildup and removal of sediment deposits in the lake, and to the health of Accotink Creek, its tributaries and downstream waters.
