Great News! Long Pond Conservancy (LPC) has formalized the agreement to purchase the 48-acre west-shore property from the 1812 Homestead.
On April 20, we converted a verbal agreement to a signed “Option to Purchase” the property. This is fabulous because it puts us in a stronger position to receive grants, like one now being considered by the Open Space Institute (OSI) to give up to $70,000 toward the purchase of the Property.
It also enables us to apply for a one-year interest-free loan so we can close on the Property and bridge any fundraising gap that may remain.
Here’s the challenge. Right now, we have $132,000 cash in the bank and another $10,000 in pledges. With the OSI Grant, our total will be over $200,000!!! And, while this is an incredible amount, the purchase price is $300,000. So we still need $100,000 to buy the land, plus another $50,000 for transaction and long-term management costs.
Therefore, Long Pond Conservancy must get commitments from you, the Long Pond donors that meet the $350,000 goal so we can purchase the Property to conserve it now and for future generations.
What can you do to help? Please make a generous donation in 2017. Then, if Long Pond Conservancy uses a loan to buy the Property, pledge to contribute during the time it takes to pay it off. In short, preserving the Long Pond’s western shore requires $150,000. Your donations and pledges are the key to success.
WE ARE CLOSE………TOGETHER, WE CAN SAVE THE WESTERN SHORELINE!!!
So many thanks for everyone’s help!
