Help Save Nevermind Cafe; LGBTQIA Neurodivergent Safe Space

Dear Friends and Community,

We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts and a sincere request for your support. Nevermind Cafe, located in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, is at risk of closing its doors. For a year now, we have been proud to serve as a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for the LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities, as well as for anyone who needs a place to belong. Unfortunately, despite investing over $200,000 of our own money into keeping the cafe alive, we can no longer financially sustain it on our own.

Our cafe is more than just a place to grab coffee or a meal. It’s a community hub where people can come together, connect, and be themselves without fear of judgment. We cater to a wide variety of dietary requirements, offering a full standard and Vegan menu with allergen-friendly foods to ensure everyone has something they can enjoy. But beyond the food and drink, Nevermind Cafe is a sanctuary—a place where people can feel seen, heard, and valued.

For many, Nevermind Cafe is one of the few spaces on the Sunshine Coast where they feel safe and accepted. Whether it's hosting events that celebrate diversity or simply being a place where people from all walks of life can gather, we have always prioritized inclusivity and community. Our mission has been to create a supportive environment, and we’ve been humbled to witness how much this space means to so many people.

However, like many small businesses, we've faced mounting financial challenges, especially in recent times. Despite our best efforts, we are now at a crossroads and need help from the very community we've strived to support. We’re launching this GoFundMe campaign to raise $64,000 in order to cover essential costs and continue operating.

With your help, we hope to:

- Keep Nevermind Cafe open and continue to provide a safe and inclusive space for the LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities.

- Maintain our focus on catering to various dietary needs, including vegan, gluten-free, and other allergen-sensitive options.

- Support ongoing community events, mental health support circles, First Nations meet ups and creative workshops, which have been a vital lifeline for many of our patrons.

- Cover operational costs that will allow us to sustain the cafe while we work toward a more stable financial footing.

We have poured our hearts, souls, and savings into Nevermind Cafe because we believe in the importance of what we do. We do not want to see this place disappear—it’s not just a cafe, but a beacon of hope for so many. Even if we don't reach our fundraising goal, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our amazing customers and generous supporters. Any funds received will go towards operational costs and to celebrate all the incredible memories we've shared, we'll host a special event—a final hurrah to honor Nevermind Cafe as we know it. It will be a chance for us to come together one last time and celebrate the community that has made this place so special.
