Urgent Update from North Texas Wildlife Center
We’re heartbroken to share that North Texas Wildlife Center is at risk of being shut down.
On Friday, we received a phone call from the City of Plano’s Business Department informing us that we are not permitted to operate a facility that generates foot traffic from a residential area. As a result, we have 56 days to find a new location or we will be forced to close our doors.
This isn’t about us- it’s about the countless injured, orphaned, and displaced wild animals we care for each year, our volunteers who dedicate their time, and the community we serve every day. We’ve admitted 2,500+ animals from your backyard.
We’re now in a race against the clock to secure a new property that fits city requirements. If we can’t find one in time, this will be the end of North Texas Wildlife Center.

Edited to add: The City of Plano is NOT to blame in this situation. They not only are within their rights to call out our foot traffic affecting the neighborhood, but they made a significant, GENEROUS exception for us on the timeframe we are working with. Please do NOT lash out at anyone you feel might be to blame. Instead, we need help to change the situation so that we are able to help the animals, which is what we are here for.
