HELP US FIGHT CITY HALL !
Thanks again for the support we have received this far. We wanted to update you on where we stand as of today August 1, 2017
Our initial funding has gone to our Attorney. Our Appeal will be heard (or at least scheduled to be )in October/November of 2017. We will be working on continuimg our funds drive so we can be covered for the remaining costs of our legal battle.
We also will be having a fundraiser to bring the community, family and friends together and raise money for a worthy cause.

There will be Food, Drinks, Live Music, and Auction with
Great Prizes.

What do you love about Shadow Hills ? The horses, goats, chickens, llamas, the"country living" ? Perhaps it's our beautiful sunsets or the mountains that surround our community. The stars in our night skies. The neighbors that are always willing to lend a hand ? The list could go on and on, and for each of us it may be a little different but nowhere on that list is Commercial Development ! And that's what is threatening our little piece of heaven and our way of life.
For the past two years we have been fighting City Hall to stop this project. Initially the neighborhood met with our Councilman where we were greeted politely but offered no support. Then onto City Planning, then Planning and Land use Management (PLUM), then the City Council and finally court. Why ?
A proposed 10 acre {zoned A1} development at :
11038 & 11070 Peoria Street
Right next to our homes ! I mean RIGHT NEXT TO, no buffer no open space nothing between a commercial development and single family homes in an equestrian zoned neighborhood.
The development consisting of
TWO 100,000 sq ft buildings, one 5 stories high, one 7 stories high including a loading dock of almost 4,000 sq ft. (that will virtually impede some of our neighbors view of those gorgeous sunsets !) A parking lot for over 300 cars !
What is this business ?
We were initially told it would be a production film studio, and that's what all the permits state, with an adjacent warehouse for operational support. Later we discovered the warehouse will actually be the home of the developers already established PARTY and EVENTS RENTAL business. It will operate
24 HRS A DAY, 7 DAYS a week !
That's right trucks with tables, chairs, furniture, lighting, and cutlery. Everything needed for a wedding or large commercial events, including port a potties, will be rumbling down our peaceful residential streets. Stonehurst , Art, Wheatland, Peoria past Stonehurst Elementary School at all hours of the day and night.
NO RESTRICTIONS !
This project does not belong next to single family, horse keeping homes. The adjacent area dates back to the 1950's and still has some original families residence. Right around the corner is Stonehurst Historical area which dates back to the 1920's.
PLEASE HELP US FIGHT CITY HALL
If we don't stop this inappropriate use of land next to our homes your neighborhood could be next.
We need to send a message to City Hall they cannot make up the rules as they go along in regards to zoning and city planning.
All funds raised go directly to our Law Firm to pay for our legal fees.
