It is with great sadness that I write this, asking for help in keeping our family's local small business open. Some of you may know us through our community efforts such as the Falone Free Library, our homeless pet foster home for rescues or outreaching to low income & unhoused individuals and families. But now we need help.
Spencer Service has been a family owned & operated business in San Gabriel Valley since 1978, originally located in Pasadena. The Falone's had worked for Spencer Service for over 30 years when, in 2012, the owner sold Spencer Service to my husband Greg and his parents, Guy & Michele. It was a good move and we were doing great. However, in 2016 we unexpectedly lost my mother in law and co-owner Michele. It was extremely hard on everyone in our family and the guys barely made it back to work. As Greg's dad got older he needed surgery on his hands which meant he could no longer repair and help with income. Greg worked hard everyday to support everyone. We were able to get back on track & thats when COVID hit.
The bills started racking up for both business and personal for our family. Slowly the world started getting up & running so we could work again. For the last 2 years Greg has been trying to play catch up to keep our home and feed our families. We applied for every COVID relief program. We have a stack of unpaid invoices that clients just can't pay. In turn, it keeps us from paying our vendors, including our medical insurance. We are blessed that our children have amazing friends and family that get them gifts for Christmas and birthdays so they never feel that we are struggling.
Unfortunately, if we aren't able to pay off some of our vendors and insurance by the 31st of December we will be closing our office doors. This includes the end of much needed medical insurance for my families mental health coverage & the end of our relationship with our needed vendors.
At this point this is our last resort to save our business, insurance & home. Including vendors, past due health insurance & other bills we need about $30,000 to get out of the red. I know its a lot of money and aren't expecting anyone to hand over that kind of money but we are hoping for some help to at least get to continue our business at our home in San Dimas so we can turn it around again.
I will be working full-time as the whole office starting January 1st to help Greg, while being a stay at home mom to our school aged kids & continue my dogsitting & transporting to help with our home bills. We have our spare bedroom rented out and will be selling our extra older service truck to put money toward the business while paying our personal bills. Greg is still working hard everyday servicing appliances all over San Gabriel Valley. So if you have any major appliances that need to be fixed give us a call over at Spencer Service Appliance Repair currently in Covina, Ca.
We know this is a lot to ask but we are praying for a Christmas Miracle. We hope and pray to be able to stay open and continue to provide our services to our neighbors and community. Thank you for your time and we hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
