Stray Dog Daisy's Broken Leg

Donation protected

I need help to save this stray dog "DAISY" from her fate of death.  I don't have the heart to just let her die from this broken leg.

Let me tell you a little about Daisy and how I found her.  In December 2015 I purchased a home in Puerto Rico.  With the house, came this stray neighborhood dog.  She seemed to like it on my back patio and would hide from the rain there.  Many mornings I would find her sleeping outside my door.  I took a liking to her and could see that she was injured.  She had one leg that was just swinging around unhinged.  She had other injury's that were not completely healed so I think she was hit by a car early in December and sustained a broken back leg, which is the most serious injury.  She hobbles around and cries every now and then when the leg hurts her.  She needed medical help and I wanted to help her as no one else was going to.  I called around to local dog shelters and did some online research.  I found that 97% of shelter dogs in Puerto Rico are euthanized because PR has an overabundance of dogs.  A dog with a broken leg is destined for this fate.  I know that saving this one dog will not affect the dog population in PR but I just can't let this sweet dog be euthanized.

My wife and I decided to take Daisy to the vet and see what can be done for her.  The vet was wonderful and discounted our bill.  We had an office exam, X-rays, blood work and fecal samples done.  Daisy's tests came back pretty healthy with negative results for lyme, heart worm, mange and some other diseases.  Her leg was a clean break and could be fixed.  However, she is not a surgeon so we would have to go elsewhere to have her leg fixed.  The vet told us the leg will need to be fixed or amputated.  She would not be able to live a healthy life with the leg like it was.  She was at high risk for infections and bone/muscular complications.   The X-ray shows the bone completely severed and the top portion is sticking straight out which makes her upper hip area look like it is swollen, and maybe partly is.

Today, I met with the surgeon in San Juan.  One of only two surgeons on the island.  The surgeon says she thinks she can fix the leg but there is still a possibility of amputation, which she won't know until she tries to the fix the leg.  Both vets think the dog is close to one year old, so she's still a puppy really.  The cost to fix the leg is $2400 - $2800.  Unfortunately, I don't have the funds to fix the leg.  When I purchased this house in December I put everything I had into it just to close.  I wasn't expecting this sweet dog to come into my life.

Are you willing to help this beautiful dog?  I am willing to offer a 1 week stay at my ocean front property in Puerto Rico for any $1500 donation (value of $2000).  This home is located in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, Southeast side of the Island, right on the Caribbean Ocean with beautiful ocean views and views of Vieques Island.  Oh yeah, and with a private yard, infinity pool and direct beach access.  You can see this beautiful vacation home on my Facebook page "Casa del Mar, Ocean Front Vacation Home".   Casa del Mar, Ocean Front Vacation Rental, Yabucoa, Puerto Rico

Together we can save this dog.  100% of your donation will go towards the medical bills for this dog.  Thank you to all the kind hearted animal lovers like myself who care about saving the lives of animals.
