SAVE the Sorrentinos

Donation protected
Last night my family lost their home in the blink of an eye. A tragic accident has displaced my mother, brother, sister in law and their three children. Please read more about their story and donate anything you can.

My name is Kelli. I’m just a regular human being who leads with her heart. I believe in God, I believe that there is someone out there that watches over us and in some cases can create miracles and protect the ones I love.

This statement could not be more true after what happened last night. I truly, wholeheartedly and honestly believe that God protected my family from a horrific, tragic accident. I only hope and pray that you can find it in your heart to help them find a new place to rest their heads and call home- and to heal from this absolutely tragic event.

Late last night tragedy struck at the Sorrentino residence in Yorba Linda, CA. At approximately 11:30 pm a vehicle speeding in front of their home lost control, went air-born and careened straight into their living room and kitchen, smashing their home to smithereens. The large vehicle landed upside down in the living room, exactly where Daniel and his daughters Cameren and Reagan were watching television. Immediately after impact Daniel was able to locate both daughters and bring them out of the home safely. The ceiling in Shea’s bedroom was crushed as she was covered in debris. Cameren, Julian and Reagan’s grandmother Irene also lived in the home and together they had 3 small dogs. As rescue workers, the fire department rushed to the scene to rescue my family from this terrible accident, it was reported that the two people inside of the vehicle that was flipped over in the living room- sadly did NOT survive. The crash was fatal.

It was by the Grace of God (I now believe) that every single member of my family escaped with merely scratches. They have nothing left to show but the clothes on their back…and each other. Which is a miracle in itself. The home was a rental property, so all of their belongings, their furniture, their clothing, their memories- are all that, just memories. But you cannot replace human life. And they KNOW this, and they are bonded together in the comfort of their love for one another and the miracle that they are all safe.

A little more about my family- Shea is a recent graduate working as a Mental Health Worker- trying to make a better life for herself and her three kids. Irene is a single mother who is the matriarch of the family, has always worked hard her entire life to support everyone she loves. Daniel is a hard working father who is trying to get his life on the right track and has found support and love through the peers of his church and family. Cameren just graduated high school 3 days ago and is going to begin college in the fall and focus her love for animals into a career to become a veterinarian. Reagan is a creative and outgoing tween who loves fashion and her friends, and her brother Julian is an intelligent young man who loves to compete on the high school track team. We are a close knit family and always bond together to help one another.

My family is a family that has ALWAYS worked so hard and fought so many obstacles along the way to get to where they are, a place to call home, a place to feel safe and rest their heads. In the blink of an eye all of that is gone. Their sanctuary crushed to pieces.

Currently they are staying in a hotel provided by the Red Cross. We don’t have much extended family and we really only have each other. If you can find it in your heart to donate whatever you can, even the smallest donation of $5.00 would help, a blanket, a sofa, some clothing, toiletries, cothing and shoes, giftcards, supplies for their pets… because they literally have NOTHING now and are essentially starting from square one. Any donation that you can make would go a very long way to help them with a deposit for a new place to live, some sneakers and clothing for the children and some furniture. ANY and ALL kindness is accepted, for one person to make a difference and change the world can be overwhelming but a tiny act kindness spread amongst many hearts can really sum up to something amazing!

Please find it in your heart to give whatever you can to help them put back the pieces of their lives from this terrible tragedy.

I beg of you to help my family. THANK YOU for taking the time to read this.  And if you cannot donate, can you PLEASE spread the word and share this post?

Any larger physical donations, furniture etc. can be coordinated by posting on this page, if you live local to the Yorba Linda area.
