Willy was rescued nearly three years ago when she was just a handful of pup at 5 months old.
Over the past few years, Willy has given us all a little something— She's made us laugh with her whining symphonies, she's made us feel special when she comes to greet us (even if just from the bathroom), she's made us feel loved when we're lonely, and happy when we are sad.
I think we can all agree that Willy is one amazing dog.
Over the past few days, Willy suddenly became very sick. She stopped barking at squirrels and chasing down dogs. She slept most of the day.
After seeing a doctor, we were told her platelet count was at zero. Confused by what this meant, it very quickly became clear that Willy was in serious need of help.
Platelet counts have to do with her ability to clot blood. With a zero platelet count, if Willy cuts her mouth on a bone, steps on a piece of glass, or falls off the couch, she's at risk for fatal amounts of blood loss.
Her prognosis is around 50%.
She is currently being treated for her condition and undergoing a series of blood transfusions, Xrays, ultrasounds, IV drips, potential surgery (depending on results) and steroid treatments.
Willy cannot come home with us as any small accident could be detrimental to her health. She cannot return home until she is stabilized.
Please help us during this difficult time.
You should never have to worry about raising the funds to take care of the most loyal creature most of us will share our lives with.
Willy is more than a dog, she's our family.
