A Deino saving a Dino

Donation protected
Greetings, I am Dok Deino.

And this is Lentil.
Lentil is a juvenile sauropod, who was found in 1965 by students from Iowa State University. Only one bone was brought back to ISU, and I am the volunteer fossil preparator who has been painstakingly freeing her from her cast over the last few months. The years have not been kind to her, but I believe there may be more of the skeleton out there.

Lentil was discovered in the Bighorn Basin of Wyoming. This summer, I would like to go out there and try to find the original site. If there is more of her out there, I intend to notify the Bureau of Land Management that there is a fossil specimen in need of collection and preservation.

The BLM allows for limited collection of non-fossil mineral specimens from public lands, so I would also like to find some minerals and rocks to donate to ISU's teaching collection.

Each day of the expedition will be catalogued on my Youtube channel, along with any and all discoveries made in the Bighorn Basin.

My starting goal is $3,000; and I wish to use the funds as follows:

$700-1,000 for travel expenses and vehicle maintenance
$200-1,000 for excavation and preservation supplies (shovels, foam padding, etc.)
$1,000 for food and unforeseen expenses that may pop up

I would be staying out in the Bighorn Basin for approximately 1.5-2 months (mid June to late July or early August), and any extra funds at the end of the expedition will be donated to the Geosciences Department at ISU.

If I do not make enough to go this summer (at least $1,200), whatever amount has been raised will be donated to the Geosciences department. I do not intend to make any money from this venture. All I will gain is experience, and hopefully the knowledge that I have helped to preserve an important part of America's prehistory.

Thank you for your time; and regardless of if you choose to donate or not, please have a lovely day.
