Hi friends, this is Keely, Bali’s mom. He started going downhill suddenly last week and is currently being hospitalized for acute kidney failure. His kidney values were not concerning at his vet visit just a few weeks ago on 1/5/2023, so we are completely devastated and so confused as to why he has suddenly gone into kidney failure.

We are hoping for the best case scenario that it is from an infection, and with IV fluids and antibiotics, his kidney values will return to what they were and we can continue treatment of the infection at home.

We are also preparing for the worst case scenario, that this treatment does not bring his kidney values down and we will bring him home, continue supportive meds, and make him comfortable until the mobile vet comes to help us let him go peacefully at home.

I have always promised Bali that I won’t give up on him and will fight as long as he wants to fight. He is the toughest little boy I’ve ever known and I fully believe he will recover from this if he is able to. I also promised him I would let him go if he didn’t want to fight anymore. I’m not sure which path we are taking yet, I believe he needs to come home and be in his safe, comfortable, loving space and given a chance to rest there before we make the call.

All this said, his treatment has been so expensive for the last two years and has slowly drained all of my savings and I’ve put a lot of mileage on my credit cards. I wouldn’t normally ask for this kind of help, but with Cole and I being between jobs and the continued financial strain of Bali’s illness, we’re in somewhat of a dire spot.

This particular hospitalization was very steep, I’ve put $3,300 on my credit card so far, and I expect to put another $1,000 - $1,500 for even the worst case scenario mentioned above. All funds will go toward his medical care and helping us bring him home to be comfortable and loved on for as long as is possible.
