Saving abused stray cats & cats from the meat trade in China

This fundraiser is primarily used to support the cats we rescued from the meat trade since last year, including their ongoing expenses for shelter rent, cat food, litter, and veterinary care. In addition, donations will also be used to cover vet bills for stray kittens and cats we rescue. Our volunteers rescued 119 cats from the Yunfu meat trade market in Guangdong. These innocent cats were found in deplorable conditions, crammed in small cages without access to food and water, enduring extreme weather conditions. Among them, only 5 cats are relatively healthy, while the rest are suffering from various illnesses. We have distributed them to 12 different veterinary clinics in China for medical treatment. However, the costs are overwhelming, and we are struggling to cover the extensive bills.

Please note that we are actively raising funds in China, but it is not sufficient to meet the mounting medical expenses. These precious babies have already endured unimaginable suffering, and our aim is to provide them with the best possible care. On 28th April 2023, Xu Zhihui, also known as JackLatiao, gained infamy for his cat torture videos, including the notorious cat blender video. Despite being arrested for stealing a cat, he faced no punishment for animal cruelty. After issuing a public apology and requesting another chance, he continued participating in cat torture livestreams as an active member of an organized animal abuse group profiting from graphic content of unaliving cats.

The arrests of Xu and others have failed to deter these cruel groups from torturing and unaliving cats. Livestreams on platforms like Telegram showcase daily acts of torture, with viewers paying to decide the cats' fate. Hacking attempts have targeted volunteers and celebrities who speak out against them, exploiting their personal information and demanding ransom for cat release, only to recapture them afterwards.

We are devastated by the ongoing suffering, but our efforts to locate and stop these individuals are hindered by VPN usage and difficulty tracing their IP addresses. Without official assistance, we feel frustrated, helpless, and desperate. We urgently need help!

In China, there are no government-subsidized animal shelters, relying solely on the generosity of private shelters and their dedicated owners who exhaust their life savings caring for homeless animals. Due to the atrocities committed, more cats need relocation to safer places, often incurring substantial vet bills. We struggle to cover expenses such as rent, vet care, food, and litter.
