Saving Christmas (the fawn with a broken leg)
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Lee-Anne. I am Carrot the Magic Deer's friend in Canada. I was able to help Carrot without any funding and I gratefully declined generous offers to help.
Recently we had one of Carrot's fawns show up here with a badly, broken, front leg. Her name is Christmas. We have no sanctuaries where we are (ultimately I hope to change that). When deer are injured here, they are always put down, except for Carrot. He was the very first injured deer who was rescued.
By happy chance, I found this wonderful place called Isaiah's Wildlife Sanctuary in Emo, Ontario. I spoke with the Gentle Bearman (Michael) who is a senior, volunteering all of his time and resources to helping animals. He is on a fixed income and sanctuaries don't get government funding . Isaiah's Wildlife Sanctuary depends on public donations to operate and pay for vet care, feed and all of the costs of keeping animals housed and warm during Canadian winters.
Michael is willing to come to Kenora and pick up Christmas soon but this requires time, planning, communication and co-operation with the MNRF.
This year there was a drought in Canada. Alfalfa is scarce and expensive. Christmas will also require surgery and I quite don't know how extensive that will be yet.
I am hoping that you will consider helping Christmas get the chance she deserves to live a long and pain free life. In order to do that, we need to help the Gentle Bearman and his Sanctuary so he can provide everything Christmas needs. He has helped many deer throughout his service to wildlife and he is eager to help Christmas.
Saving Christmas is no small undertaking where we live. I can't thank you enough for helping us to help her. May the spirit of the season and love itself, follow you always.
