Saving face: Help Cameron recover from dog attack

Hi, my name is Cameron Evans and I'm raising emergency funds for medical bills and a reconstructive facial surgery that I'm about to undergo after a dog attack. On the evening of Dec. 28, I was watching TV with my family and my dog while visiting for the holidays. I went to cuddle my dog on the couch when he attacked me and bit completely through my cheek, lip, and other lacerations on my face and hands, and a broken finger.

 

I was able to get haphazardly stitched up in the ER but I am following up with a facial plastic surgeon as there is a risk of significant scarring and deformity. Unfortunately, after checking with insurance, I've learned that the ER visit and any reconstructive surgeries will not be covered because this is all happening out-of-state and it's imperative that I see a reconstructive surgeon as soon as possible (also to prevent infection).

 

My medical bills will likely exceed the amount I've listed here but anything would help and be more than appreciated.

 

 

 

The good news is that I'm OK and it could have been worse. The bad is that I'm also coping with the heartbreaking reality that we are going to have to put my dog down. Over the last few years, he has dealt with arthritis and has occasionally snapped at people and become aggressive when he's in pain. On the day of the attack, he appeared to be in some pain after a long walk but was given meds and acting back to his normal self. He has never acted to this extreme and unfortunately, he's too much of a danger to keep around people. Thoughts, prayers and donations are more than appreciated during what is going to be a rough few months ahead.
