Saving Jacob & Jacee's Family

Tragedy hit our ASAR Rescue Family on Friday 7/12/24... Jacee and her husband Jacob were BOTH hit by a bullet from a road rage incident, while their 1 year old son was in the backseat.

Jacee is a fundraising coordinator for our rescue, (Asarescue.org) their family has endlessly fostered and they are totally dedicated to the saving of lives of animals - so selfless and loving, giving people.

Jacee is also the daughter of our VP and Transport Coordinator and my best friend, sister and her family is my own too. (Shannon ASAR President).

They had found a stray dog on Thursday evening, called and asked if they could keep at our facility and try to relocate its family. They SUCCEEDED, so Friday morning they were so excited to return him to his rightful owner.

They successfully returned the dog to the owner, left and were elated. Then another car began erratically driving nearly 100mph all over, around them, brake checking - then they tried to de-escalate and pulled to the stop sign. Then this nightmare began .

The man driving erratically pulled up beside them, rolled his window down and began shooting!

Jacob was shot in the face, it went thru him in the drivers seat, into his jaw, shattering multiple teeth, exited his mouth then into Jacee's forehead and the bullet was recovered from Jacee's cheek at the hospital...

The reality is, her husband took a bullet for her. His being in that position, at that time, LITERALLY saved her life! Otherwise, it would have went right into her brain and killed her. All the while their 1 year old son was in the backseat! Luckily and by the Grace of GOD, the baby was unharmed.

This is something we could never imagine happening, much less when they were literally returning a dog to its owner they picked up the day before. That owner was a witness on scene, driving behind them... That owner helped save their lives as she was a nurse and helped apply pressure, give sterile pads to cover wounds, until Paramedics could arrive!

Jacob's jaw is shattered, lost several teeth, he spent 2 days in ICU-Trauma. Jacee spent 1 day in Trauma ER, she literally was saved because that entry to her husband's jaw, slowed it down before hitting her - he saved her life. He was losing so much blood, arteries were ruptured and they had to transfuse, but he is under heavy watch for a few days then surgery will be scheduled to begin reconstruction to his jaw, teeth, face. They came home yesterday, but Jacob cannot eat, only drink protein shakes - he is so swollen and in so much pain.

Jacee is having flashbacks of details to give the police. This was aired all over all Oklahoma news stations and yet we still have no valid suspect!

It was extremely traumatic for them, but also Shelley, myself, their families and WE ALL appreciate your prayers.

Jacee has a $7k deductible, Jacob over $5k for his but that doesn't include co-insurances after the deductibles! The car is damaged, they both cannot work and this family is 26 yrs, 27yrs with 2 children 1 & 7!

They would give anything to help someone or some animal in need, NOW THEY NEED US!
